Kudos to our Jane Brinkley—featured in such Radio Redux shows as “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and “Alice in Wonderland”—for having her song “Just Another Night,” co-written with Ashley Schmittle, selected as one of 13 winners in the National Endowment for the Arts’ “Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge.”
The song, which was picked from more than 200 submissions nationally, was written last fall when the two were students at South Eugene High School (Brinkley is now at Smith College, Schmittle at DePaul University).
The duo has been working with veteran songwriters to develop “Just Another Night” into a Broadway-ready composition. It’s been recorded at Reservoir Studios in New York City and can be heard on music streaming services and on the iHeartRadio app.
Jane is a two-time winner of the National Young Playwrights Festival at the Blank Theater in Los Angeles, and is a Scholastic Art and Writing Awards gold medalist in her region for poetry and prose. In high school, she was showcased at Oregon State Music Convention for her solo musical theater, voice performance, group scene performance, and playwriting (twice); qualified for theater nationals various times, and performed on the International Thespian festival stage in a 2019 selected musical, “Be More Chill.”
We’re looking forward to even bigger things from Jane.
